Total FX Laser Scar and Wrinkle

TotalFX is an advanced laser treatment that treats multiple common signs of aging and skin conditions, including scars, wrinkles, fine lines, dermal lesions, and brown spots or other forms of discoloration. The treatment works by combining two effective protocols: ActiveFX and DeepFX for more comprehensive results. At Lewisburg Plastic Surgery, patients can enjoy the results of these advanced treatments in our comfortable office setting.

ActiveFX

ActiveFX is intended for brown spots, fine lines, and skin laxity. The treatment is a fractional resurfacing procedure, meaning that a high-energy laser is used to peel away the upper layer of the skin. This removes damaged and unhealthy skin cells and triggers the generation of new, healthier skin at the surface. Because ActiveFX is a fractional treatment, small bridges of untouched skin are left behind after the treatment. This allows for a faster and easier healing process, reducing overall patient downtime.

ActiveFX Results

ActiveFX results can include:

  • Tighter skin
  • Reduced fine lines
  • Improved skin texture
  • Plumper and firmer skin
  • Improved elasticity
  • Reduced brown spots and more even skin tone

Most patients notice their ActiveFX results beginning about one to two weeks after their treatment as the skin’s exfoliated surface flakes away and all redness resolves.

What is an ActiveFX Treatment like?

ActiveFX treatment is performed in our office at Lewisburg Plastic Surgery. First, a topical anesthetic is applied to maintain comfort. In some cases, a facial nerve block will also be administered. Most patients are also prescribed pain medication to take prior to the procedure. Thanks to these measures, the procedure causes only minor discomfort, which most patients describe as similar to a sunburn.

DeepFX

DeepFX is designed to address changes in the skin’s dermis layer, which can include deeper wrinkles, scarring, and other irregularities in texture. While ActiveFX targets issues at the skin’s surface, DeepFX is more effective at reaching these underlying issues. DeepFX allows patients to target these deeper issues in their skin’s texture without the lengthy downtime associated with similar procedures. Deep wrinkles, irregular texture, and scarring can be improved in a single treatment session thanks to fractional CO2 microbeams. These precise lasers stimulate new collagen production and can be used in areas including the lips, eye area, neck, chest, hands, and arms.

DeepFX Results?

DeepFX can improve a range of skin conditions, signs of aging, and concerns. These include:

  • Wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Skin folds
  • Irregular texture
  • Irregular skin tone
  • Poor collagen
  • Skin laxity

By stimulating new collagen production, DeepFX yields results that continue to improve for up to six months after treatment. By following a proper skincare routine and avoiding sun damage, results can last for years.

What is a DeepFX treatment like?

Prior to DeepFX treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied. As needed, a nerve block may be administered and a prescription pain medication may be taken prior to the procedure. As a result, most patients feel only a warming sensation throughout the treatment.

After DeepFX treatment, side effects include a sense of warmth and roughness or tenderness similar to a sunburn. Redness and swelling are also common. The skin will begin to flake as outer layers exfoliate, revealing smoother and more youthful skin with reduced wrinkles.
