Procedure Guidelines For Laser Treatments

Candidates for laser vein treatment have spider veins, unattractive small red, blue, and purple blood vessels, most frequently on their legs.

Intended Result

Laser vein treatment can reduce the appearance of spider veins and create a pleasing cosmetic result in affected areas.

Procedure Description

Done on an outpatient basis, laser treatment requires no anesthesia. During the procedure, light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels. This heat absorption causes coagulation of the blood vessel, which is subsequently absorbed by the body.

Healing Process

Following treatment, patients should expect some redness or swelling, which usually fades within 1 week.

While in the sun, sunscreen SPF 20 or greater must be worn for at least 4 to 6 weeks following a treatment.

Insurance Guidelines

Because this procedure is considered cosmetic, it is not covered by insurance and must be paid by the patient.

Note: The specific risks and suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.
