PiQo4 Laser Tattoo Removal

As tattoos become more and more popular, so does laser tattoo removal. In the past, patients were forced to live with tattoos they no longer wanted. Today, advances in tattoo removal technology make it easier than ever to remove tattoos regardless of color, size, placement, skin tone, or other factors.

At Lewisburg Plastic Surgery, we offer laser tattoo removal using PiQo4 technology. This is the latest in tattoo removal technology, combining cutting-edge laser options to break down a wider range of colors in shorter treatment sessions. Thanks to PiQo4 laser tattoo removal, patients are free to move on from unwanted tattoos, creating a clean slate for new tattoos that better represent who they are today or enjoying clear, beautiful, and unblemished skin.

What is the PiQo4 Laser?

The PiQo4 laser uses Nano and Pico laser energies which break apart the pigments within tattoo ink. This combination of laser energies can break down all common colors used in tattoos. As pigments are broken down, the body’s immune system can then naturally metabolize the ink, effectively flushing them away. PiQo4 lasers target both large and small particles of tattoo ink for more complete tattoo removal compared to other methods. By precisely targeting the ink particles and pigments, PiQo4 results in reduced harm to the surrounding skin. While PiQo4 lasers target both large and small ink particles simultaneously, other removal methods can only address one at a time. This means that treatment with the PiQo4 laser can be completed faster.

It is possible to remove a tattoo! For smaller, simpler tattoos, surgery can be the best removal option – it is often less expensive, with the best results.

Laser tattoo removal is also available, for tattoos that cannot easily be removed with surgery due to their size or location on the body.

What to Expect with PiQo4 Laser Tattoo Removal

The total number of treatment sessions required for a tattoo removal session will vary depending on the size of the tattoo, the color and number of colors present in the tattoo, and the area of the body. Tattoos located closer to the heart can often be removed faster thanks to better circulation in these areas, for example. Amateur tattoos tend to be easier to remove as well, as they are typically not as deep as professional tattoos. On average, patients undergo between 2-10 laser tattoo removal sessions with PiQo4.

During treatment, the PiQo4 handpiece will be directed to the unwanted tattoo. You will be given protective eyewear as the laser flashes and targets the unwanted pigments. PiQo4 treatment is commonly described as feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Treatments can be completed relatively quickly, though each session will vary depending on the size of the tattoo and other factors.

After PiQo4 Laser Tattoo Removal

Immediately after PiQo4 treatment, you will notice a white or light-colored “frosting” on the surface of the tattoo. In addition, swelling and redness in the treatment area are common. Patients may also feel some tenderness or sensitivity as healing takes place. “Frosting,” swelling, and redness typically resolve within hours after the treatment session. As healing takes place, you may notice blistering as the body heals. While healing takes place, the tattoo will gradually fade. During a consultation, your PiQo4 provider can give you an estimate as to how quickly your tattoo will disappear.
