Liposuction

Excess subcutaneous fat, which is resistant to diet and exercise, can be removed using liposuction. Individuals who wish to change their body contours may want to consider liposuction. Commonly involved areas are the anterior part of the neck, upper arms and armpits, male chest/breasts, trunk, abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, inner knees, and calves. The majority of liposuction patients are average weight and desire long lasting contour changes. Since improved techniques are more readily available, liposuction is becoming increasingly useful to heavier persons. A long lasting improvement in the contour and proportion of treated areas is achieved with liposuction. With liposuction, a more flattering figure or physique can be accomplished. Clothing can be more fitting. Additional procedures that may enhance the result of a liposuction are Cellulaze cellulite treatment, tummy tuck, breast reduction, breast lift, breast enhancement, or a thigh-buttock lift. We also offer a non-surgical procedure called CoolSculpting.

How is it performed?

Traditional Liposuction

Liposuction is completed on an outpatient basis.Sedation is typically used for safety and comfort. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction is performed when appropriate. The procedure is performed by inserting small suction tubes through short incisions placed in inconspicuous locations near fat deposits. Once tube is in place, excess fat is removed. Liposuction is performed.

Smartlipo

Smartlipo laser body contouring is a minimally invasive, laser-assisted lipolysis procedure that targets trouble spots like the abdomen, arms, buttocks, thighs, and neck, and permanently eliminates fat. Smartlipo provides dramatic improvements with greater results, minimal downtime, and less pain than traditional liposuction. The Smartlipo laser fiber is inserted through a very small tube into your body, the laser ruptures the fat cell membranes and the fat cells are permanently destroyed. The liquefied fat is gently suctioned out. Because Smartlipo actually tightens the skin through coagulation, you don’t have to worry about dimpling and sagging skin. Three wavelengths provide targeted treatments to disrupt fat; coagulate blood vessels and stimulate collagen which helps to tighten skin and improve elasticity by up to 57%.

PrecisionTx Laser

The PrecisionTx laser treatment is a type of Smartlipo designed for the neck area to give you a defined look without a surgical facelift. This is a minimally invasive procedure, performed under local anesthesia, to tighten the skin and remove fat. Tiny incisions are made to fit a very small cannula with a laser fiber (about the size of the tip of a pen), underneath your skin. Thermally controlled laser energy is delivered to the treatment area to stimulate collagen production in the dermis. You may experience light pressure and minimal discomfort during the procedure, and some soreness afterwards. You will be able to return to your normal activities in a few days.

Recovery after liposuction

The patient leaves surgery with a compression garment covering the treated areas. Compression is advised for about a month to reduce swelling and helps to achieve fast recovery. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Activity may be resumed in 3 to 4 days. Strenuous activity should be avoided for 3 to 4 weeks. Bruising and swelling typically subsides in 2 to 4 weeks. The final result will be realized in 3 to 4 months.

Why Choose Us?

Dr. Normington and Dr. Moya are board certified plastic surgeons, who are specially trained in aesthetics and body contouring. When evaluating their patients, they can determine if Smartlipo is the proper treatment for their individual concerns, or if another surgical option would provide them with optimal results. We also have the option of performing the procedure under general anesthesia, in one of our two private operating rooms, if needed.
Compare all of this to other offices in the area, where Smartlipo is performed strictly under local anesthesia, by a family doctor.

Insurance Guidelines

Because this procedure is considered cosmetic, it is not covered by insurance and must be paid by the patient. The cost of liposuction can be determined during a consultation with one of our surgeons.
